People are lighting bonfire to escape the cold and the government and administration have arranged night shelters for the poor people. Locals said that the severe cold in the city has made it difficult to carry out daily activities.
Cold Wave Continues to Sweep Rajasthan
Dense fog enveloped cities like Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Churu, Sriganganagar, Barmer, Jaipur, Kota, Ajmer, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Jhunjhunu, Sawai Madhopur, Sikar leading to a severe cold wave. The Meteorological Department had issued a yellow alert for fog and cold wave in 12 districts on Monday. The owner of a local tea shop in Jaipur, Rajasthan, said, "We have been suffering from severe cold for three days. My arms and legs aren't working. The rain has increased the cold, although pollution has decreased. People are coming in large numbers to drink tea since morning. "
Temperature will Drop Even More
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a gradual drop in temperatures over several parts of northwest and central India, including Delhi, over the next few days. IMD scientist Dr. Naresh Kumar said that the temperature is expected to fall by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius in many areas. The IMD has also predicted dense to very dense fog in Punjab and Haryana over the next two days, which is likely to affect visibility and cause disruption to travel. However, the temperature has been above normal at this time.
Weather is Expected to Improve in Few Days
IMD expects it to return to normal levels in the coming days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 12 degrees Celsius. A thin layer of fog engulfed the national capital on Monday. The Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) has set up 235 pagoda tents to provide shelter to homeless people. Night shelters have been set up in several areas of the national capital, including AIIMS, Lodhi Road and Nizamuddin flyover.
