Indian Army and Manipur Police Seize Weapons in Multiple Districts
In a significant achievement, nine weapons and ammunition from both the hill and valley regions have been seized from Imphal East, Tengnoupal, Yangiyangpokpi, and Churachandpur districts in Manipur.
On December 23, 2024, the Indian Army and Manipur Police executed a joint search operation based on accurate intelligence about the presence of arms and ammunition in the common area of Nagarian Hill in Imphal East district. They seized a Light Machine Gun, a 12-gauge single-barrel gun, a 9 mm pistol, two tube launchers, explosives, and ammunition.
The Assam Rifles and Manipur Police conducted a joint search operation on December 27, 2024, and successfully recovered a factory-made .303 rifle, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), and grenades. From December 27 to 28, 2024, based on specific intelligence about weapon movements on the route to Yangjiangpokpi, the Indian Army set up a mobile check post on the road from Lamlong to Yangpokpi.
Vigilant troops stopped the vehicles and, after a thorough inspection, recovered two double-barrel rifles and one single-bore rifle from them. According to the release, the recovered items from the operations have been turned over to Manipur Police.
In Churachandpur district, a collaborative operation was carried out by the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police on December 27, 2024, in the vicinity of K Langhnom Wangkho village. During this operation, an under-construction structure resembling an outpost on NH 2, which was likely to be used by miscreants, was demolished. After the operation, thorough patrols were conducted to secure the area and deter any potential miscreant activity.
