Dehradun Tightens Security Ahead of New Year Celebrations

In the meantime, the Dehradun district administration has directed officials to ensure law and order and smooth traffic flow in Mussoorie amid the heavy influx of tourists during Christmas, New Year, and winter vacations. This directive will remain in effect until January 20, 2025, from the date it is issued.
In response to the substantial rise in tourists during Christmas, New Year, and the winter season in Mussoorie, the Dehradun District Administration has enforced Section 163 (1) of the Indian Civil Security Code to maintain law and order and manage traffic.
For the first time, Dehradun District Magistrate Savin Bansal has introduced a winter travel system in Mussoorie and has assigned responsibilities to the officials.
Previously, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami instructed the Tourism Department to create a policy within a month to establish wedding venues in Uttarakhand. He also instructed the officials to speed up the preparations for night-time aircraft landings at Pantnagar and Dehradun airports.
The instructions were given during the third session of the Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board (UIIDB) at the secretariat. The chief minister emphasized the necessity for rapid execution of the action plan to develop the two new cities.
He also advocated for the gradual development of the Ganga and Sharda corridors, as well as the Knowledge City at Dakpathar, with all projects set to be officially initiated by June 2026. Dhami emphasized the necessity of planning and implementing diverse development projects to meet the state's requirements for the next 25 years.
He emphasized the need for the state to develop short-term, medium-term, and long-term strategies to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a developed India by 2047.
