On Monday night, a tragic accident occurred on SG Barve Road in Kurla West, where a BEST bus, en route to Andheri, collided with pedestrians and vehicles, resulting in the deaths of at least four people and leaving 25 others injured, according to the police.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported that the bus collided with 30-40 vehicles over a distance of 100 meters before crashing into the RCC column of the Solomon building, damaging its compound wall. In Kurla, the BEST bus lost control, crushing several vehicles.

As a result, 25 people were injured, and four lost their lives. The injured are currently receiving treatment at hospitals, and the bus driver has been arrested.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Ganesh Gawade informed the media that investigations are ongoing in the case. The injured individuals were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals, including BMC-operated Bhabha Hospital and Sion Hospital in Kurla. Dr. Padmashree Ahire from Bhabha Hospital mentioned that approximately 25 injured people were brought in for treatment.

Shiv Sena MLA Dilip Lande stated that brake failure caused the accident. He mentioned that the bus driver, after losing control of the vehicle, panicked and hit the accelerator, resulting in the bus striking 30-35 people. 'A bus departing from Kurla station experienced brake failure, leading to the driver losing control,' he said.

It is believed that the driver panicked and accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brakes, causing the bus to accelerate. He lost control and crashed into 30-35 people. Consequently, many lost their lives and four are in critical condition. The injured are being treated at Sion Hospital, Rajawadi Hospital, and other private hospitals.
