On Wednesday, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) successfully finished constructing the longest underground tunnel between the Tughlakabad Airforce Launching Shaft and Maa Anandmayee Marg on the Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor of Phase-IV, according to an official statement.

According to the statement, a tunnel boring machine (TBM) measuring 105 meters in length successfully surfaced at Maa Anandmayee Marg station on December 4, after completing a 2.65-kilometer tunnel.

As part of the Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor, two parallel circular tunnels for upward and downward movement are under construction in this section.

The breakthrough for the other parallel tunnel is expected in January 2025, it mentioned. The new tunnel has been built at an average depth of roughly 16 metres, with about 1,894 rings having an inner diameter of 5.8 metres installed in the tunnel, it added.
