Two Arrested in Amritsar for Smuggling Weapons from Pakistan

Punjab Police Nab Two for Smuggling Pakistani Weapons

The Director General of Punjab Police announced that the Counter Intelligence Unit of Amritsar Police has detained two individuals linked to the smuggling of weapons from Pakistan to Punjab.

These men were allegedly waiting for an associate to deliver the weapons near the Gharinda area of Amritsar district when they were captured by the Counter Intelligence Unit.

Officers confiscated eight weapons from the suspects. Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated on X, 'In a significant crackdown on the illegal weapons smuggling network, Counter Intelligence, Amritsar, has arrested two individuals from Nurpur Padri near Gharinda, Amritsar, while they were awaiting another operative to transfer the consignment of weapons smuggled from Pakistan.'

Authorities seized four Austrian-made Glock pistols, two Turkish-made 9mm pistols, two Zigana .30 bore pistols, and 10 rounds of ammunition.

A case has been filed under pertinent sections of the Arms Act, and an investigation is ongoing to uncover any additional connections.

The Punjab DIG's post stated, 'An FIR under the Arms Act has been filed at the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, and an investigation is underway to determine backward and forward connections.'

The Punjab Police also reaffirmed their dedication to dismantling organized crime networks and ensuring public safety.
