Bihar: Over Rs 1,000 Crore Loans Given at Darbhanga Credit Outreach Event

Bihar: On Friday, Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman led a credit outreach program in Darbhanga, Bihar.

According to an official statement by the Finance Ministry, various banks disbursed loans totaling Rs 1,388 crore to 49,137 beneficiaries during the programme.

Darbhanga Credit Outreach Program

Sitharaman, alongside other dignitaries, toured approximately 25 stalls showcasing various local products and handicrafts created by banks and entrepreneurs supported by NABARD.

Union Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary were also present at the event. M Nagaraju, Secretary of the Department of Financial Services (DFS), and the MD of Central Bank of India, emphasized the banks' efforts towards financial inclusion in the district.

The Union Finance Minister presented five copies of the Constitution in Maithili and Sanskrit to the dignitaries. Additionally, he inaugurated an ambulance as part of CSR initiatives and handed out tricycles to people with disabilities.

Additionally, the release mentioned that NABARD approved more than Rs 74 crore for various rural road projects. Banks and SIDBI also contributed through CSR activities to enhance school infrastructure, particularly for girls' schools.

Chirag Paswan thanked the Union Finance Minister for visiting Darbhanga, while Samrat Chaudhary commended both the Prime Minister and Sitharaman for their contributions to the region's economic growth.

Inauguration of 25 BC Max Centres

At the event, Sitharaman opened five new branches of the State Bank of India and launched 25 BC Max centers of the Central Bank of India.

Present at the event were Members of Parliament Gopal Ji Thakur, Dr. Dharamshila Gupta, Sanjay Kumar Jha, and Dr. Ashok Kumar Yadav. Tangirala and SBI Deputy Managing Director Surinder Rana also attended.

Earlier today, the Union Finance Minister led a review meeting of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) of the Eastern Region in Patna.
