Azad Criticizes 'Bullet Justice' in UP Amid Sambhal Violence
Azad Samaj Party leader Chandrashekhar Azad condemned the Uttar Pradesh government on Monday for the Sambhal violence, stating that "justice is being executed through bullets" and such "lawlessness" is unacceptable. Azad, a Lok Sabha MP from Nagina, was stopped by the police while traveling to Sambhal via Hapur.
"I oppose violence, but in Uttar Pradesh, justice is being served through gunfire, which is unacceptable. I sympathize with the injured police officers, but this is a conspiracy, and our marginalized citizens are the victims," quoted by Chandrashekhar Azad.
According to police officials, four people lost their lives due to the violence. Following the unrest that broke out during an ASI survey at a Mughal-era mosque in Sambhal on Sunday, the district administration announced today that outsiders, social organizations, or public representatives would need prior permission from authorities to enter Sambhal. Earlier, Moradabad Police Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar Singh confirmed that the accused in the Sambhal incident included the son of a Samajwadi Party MP and a local MLA. He stated that the situation was peaceful and an investigation was ongoing.
The situation in Sambhal is calm. The investigation is underway. An FIR has been filed. An FIR has been lodged against Sambhal MP Zia-your-Rehman Barq and the son of a local MLA for incitement. Four people have lost their lives. The injured are receiving medical treatment. Strict measures will be enforced, and the NSA will be applied if necessary.
Zia-your-Rehman Barq refuted the accusations against him and claimed that the Uttar Pradesh police administration was involved in a 'conspiracy'. He asserted that the charges were baseless as he was not in the state during the outbreak of violence. In an interview with ANI, he stated, 'The actions of the police administration in Sambhal have deeply disturbed humanity and damaged the reputation of the state and the country. I was not even in the state yesterday; I had traveled to Bengaluru for a meeting of the India Muslim Personal Law Board, yet a case was filed against me.'
