Wike presented Modi with the symbolic 'key' of Abuja, representing the trust and respect of the Nigerian people. During his visit, the Prime Minister is set to engage in bilateral talks to strengthen the ties between the two nations. In a post on X, Modi highlighted that the aim of his visit is to deepen the bilateral friendship between India and Nigeria.

Prime Minister Modi said, "I have reached Nigeria a while ago. Thank you for the warm welcome. I hope this visit further strengthen the bilateral friendship between our countries. Nigerian President Bola Ahmad Tinubu also stressed on strengthening bilateral relations and expressed his keenness to welcome Prime Minister Modi to Nigeria. "I look forward to welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his first visit to Nigeria, which is also the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to our beloved country since 2007," Tinubu said in a post on X. Our bilateral discussions aim to expand the strategic partnership between the two countries and expand cooperation in key areas. "

The Indian diaspora was filled with enthusiasm on the arrival of Prime Minister Modi. Several members of the expatriate community were seen holding Indian flags and enthusiastically shouting 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' slogans. Girish Jayakar, a member of the Indian diaspora community, told ANI, "We are very excited to meet our Prime Minister. This is his first visit to Nigeria. We welcome them." An Indian prime minister is coming to Nigeria after 15 years. We are very energetic and enthusiastic. We have high hopes for Prime Minister Modi because there is a need to improve India-Nigeria relations. We hope his visit will yield fruitful results," said Ramesh Malik, another member of the Indian diaspora. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a three-nation visit to Nigeria, Brazil, and Guyana from November 17 to 21. Prime Minister Modi issued a statement at the invitation of President Bola Ahmad Tinubu indicating his first stop in Nigeria, which is aimed at strengthening the strategic ties between the two countries. "At the invitation of President Bola Ahmad Tinnubu, this will be my first visit to Nigeria, which is our closest partner in the West African region," the statement said. My visit will be an opportunity to further strengthen our strategic partnership based on shared belief in democracy and pluralism. I am also eagerly looking forward to meeting the Indian community and friends from Nigeria who have sent me warm welcome messages in Hindi."
