Jharkhand polls: As reported by the Election Commission of India, a 59.28 percent voter turnout was observed by 3 pm during the initial phase of the Jharkhand assembly elections. The ECI's data indicates that, by 3 pm, the Seraikela-Kharsawan constituency had the highest turnout at 66.38 percent, followed by Lohardaga at 65.99 percent and Simdega at 64.31 percent. The state capital Ranchi had the lowest turnout with 53.40 percent, while Palamu district saw a turnout of 56.57 percent.

Ramgarh recorded 59.22 percent voting, Khunti 63.35 percent, Gumla 64.59 percent, West Singhbhum 60.35 percent, Latehar 62.81 percent, Garhwa 61.06 percent, East Singhbhum 58.72 percent, and Hazaribagh 57.16 percent. Voting for the first phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections commenced on Wednesday morning, with 43 of the state's 81 seats up for election. Jharkhand Police is using drones for surveillance in Ranchi as polling proceeds. Meanwhile, former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni cast his vote at a polling booth in Ranchi for the Jharkhand elections. Chief Minister and JMM candidate from Barhait, Hemant Soren, after casting his vote, urged the citizens of the state to vote to strengthen the democracy of the country. 'Today, we have cast our votes at our respective polling stations.'

I urge the residents of Jharkhand to leave their homes and vote to bolster the nation's democracy. Former Chief Minister Madhu Koda expressed confidence in the BJP-NDA candidate's victory, stating that the public is entirely rejecting the JMM-Congress. 'According to trends, people are completely rejecting JMM-Congress. We can say that BJP-NDA candidates will have an advantage in the first phase of voting. The JMM-Congress government has failed to provide employment. Farmers are suffering because they are not receiving fair prices for their produce.' BJP leader Jayant Sinha also voted and remarked, 'I am a common citizen and voter.'

He urged everyone to vote for candidates who dedicate themselves to serving the people and diligently work to advance the constituency.

The BJP-led NDA seeks to remove the JMM-led alliance from power, featuring prominent candidates such as CM Hemant Soren, former CM Champai Soren, JMM leader Mahua Maji, and Congress leader Ajay Kumar. The remaining 38 seats will be contested on November 20, with vote counting scheduled for November 23.
