Jharkhand Election: CRPF Jawan Injured in Accidental Shooting

CRPF Jawan Shot: During the first phase of the Jharkhand Assembly Election 2024, a CRPF jawan was shot in the head in Palamu. The soldier was taken to Medinirai Medical College and Hospital before being transferred to Ranchi. The soldier has been named as Santosh Kumar Yadav, who was posted in Labhar, Latehar. He hails from Bihar, and his family has been informed.

Colleagues rushed to the hospital

Authorities reported that Santosh was shot in the head due to an accidental discharge at the picket. His fellow soldiers immediately took him to the hospital. Upon receiving news of the incident, Palamu Range DIG YS Ramesh, CRPF DIG Pankaj Kumar, Palamu SP Reishma Ramesh, and senior CRPF officials arrived at the hospital. They spoke with the doctors and also questioned other soldiers stationed at the picket.

Regarding this matter, Palamu DIG YS Ramesh mentioned that CRPF was stationed in Labhar for the election. He stated that the incident was accidental. As per the Jharkhand Election Commission, over 150 CRPF companies have been deployed in the Palamu division for the voting process.
