Dhoni and Family Participate in Jharkhand Polls Amid Fan Frenzy

Former Indian cricketer and World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni voted at a polling booth in Ranchi for the Jharkhand Assembly elections. The 43-year-old cricketer was accompanied by his wife Sakshi. There was significant enthusiasm among people to take selfies with Dhoni. He is also the brand ambassador for the Jharkhand assembly elections. By voting, Dhoni conveyed the message that people should exercise their voting rights. Upon his arrival at the booth, people were eager to take selfies with him. However, security personnel managed the crowd, and Dhoni left the booth after voting. He was also accompanied by his father Pan Singh Dhoni and mother Devki Devi.

59.28% voter turnout recorded by 3 pm

The Election Commission of India reported a 59.28 percent voter turnout by 3 pm in the first phase of the Jharkhand assembly elections. The Seraikela-Kharsawan constituency had the highest polling at 66.38 percent, followed by Lohardaga and Simdega with 65.99 percent and 64.31 percent respectively. Ranchi, the state capital, recorded its lowest ever voter turnout at 53.40 percent, while Palamu district saw 56.57 percent. Ramgarh had a 59.22 percent voter turnout, Khunti 63.35 percent, Gumla 64.59 percent, West Singhbhum 60.35 percent, Latehar 62.81 percent, Garhwa 61.06 percent, East Singhbhum 58.72 percent, and Hazaribagh 57.16 percent. Voting for the first phase began on Wednesday morning, covering 43 of the state's 81 seats. Additionally, Jharkhand Police is using drones for surveillance in Ranchi.
