Telangana: Telangana government to conduct caste and economic census. This census will start today i.e. November 6. It will include more than 80 thousand employees. Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the data coming out of this census will help a lot in the development of the state.
Survey will uplift people
In a video conference of ministers with district collectors, Vikramarka asked officials to carry out the survey with utmost seriousness. Starting November 6, the socio-economic survey will inform policies and uplift marginalised communities, Vikramarka wrote on X. Collectors can utilise the services of teachers as enumerators in surveys.
The survey will be completed on November 30.
State Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the survey is likely to be completed by November 30. The exercise is in line with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's commitment to conduct a caste survey in the state as well as across the country. Earlier, the Telangana Backward Classes Commission had on Friday issued a notification for public hearing while initiating the process of conducting caste census in the state.
80 thousand employees will be included in the census
The census will include around 80,000 enumerators and 10,000 observers, commission chairman G Niranjan had said. As per the decision taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the last date for submission of data is December 9. The census will capture information about the social, educational and economic status of citizens, as well as whether they have got political opportunities or not. The Commission will recommend reservation for backward classes in local bodies on the basis of data.
