Wasim Akram: The Asia Cup 2025 Final between India and Pakistan is going to be an intense one as both teams will be clashing for the first time in the finals of the tournament after 41 long years. Both teams have already faced each other in the ongoing tournament in the Group Stage and Super Four, and the Men in Blue were dominant over the opposition team.
Pakistan reached the finals by defeating Bangladesh by 11 runs in the Super Four clash, where they defended the score of 136 runs. The clash between India and Pakistan is filled with a lot of controversies, first the handshake controversy, and now as the Indian team refused to do a photoshoot with Pakistan ahead of the final. After the two clashes between the countries, Suryakumar Yadav was fined 30 % of his match fees due to post-match comments where he dedicated the win to the ones who lost their lives inthe Pahalgam attack.

Talking ahead of the final clash, the legendary cricketer Wasim Akram said,
“I hope so (Pakistan’s bowling comes to the fore on Sunday too), and look, it’s an India-Pakistan game. India definitely is the favorite on Sunday. But you guys have seen, cricket lovers have seen, I have seen, anything can happen in this format. One good innings, one spell can change the course of the game. Pakistan team should take this confidence, this momentum to Sunday and back themselves and play sensible cricket.”

Further, the legendary cricketer said,
“Ideally, a couple of early wickets, especially Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill, can definitely put India on the back foot. It should be a close game, and I hope in the end, the best team will win.”
After the Super Four clash with India on Sunday, September 21, in Dubai, Haris Rauf was fined 30% of his match fees due to aggressive behavior with Indian fans in response to fans chanting ‘Kohli, Kohli’. Meanwhile, Sahibzada Farhan was also involved in the ICC hearing due to his ‘gun’ celebration after he completed his half-century, but was free after a warning.
