Virat Kohli Retirement: The RCB’s former skipper and star player, Virat Kohli, might retire soon from the IPL after winning the maiden title in IPL 2025. This thing went viral after some reports stated that the 36-year-old rejected a commercial contract with the franchise before the new season.
“He Will Definitely Play For RCB”: Aakash Chopra On Virat Kohli Retirement

But according to this report, the former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has put a full stop to this news. He stated that RCB fans should relax, as the star player Virat Kohli is not leaving the franchise and not going anywhere soon. Virat started his IPL career with RCB and has often stated that he desires to finish his career with the Bengaluru-based team.
He said,
“He has reportedly refused a commercial contract, but what does that mean? He will definitely play for RCB. If he is playing, he is definitely going to turn out for the same franchise.”

It is to be noted that commercial contracts are different from retention contracts, and there is no link between those contracts with each other. Kohli has been retained by RCB every season and is likely to be the first one to get retained in the IPL 2026 Auction too.
The former cricketer Aakash Chopra further stated,
“He (Kohli) has just won the trophy. Why will he leave the franchise then? He isn’t going anywhere. What contract can be refused is in the realm of speculation. He might have a dual contract.”
