The first ODI is being played at the Optus Stadium in Perth on October 19, Sunday. If we take a look at the match situation, currently India is at 37/3. Former captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed early for just 8 runs, then came Virat Kohli, who was dismissed for a duck, and then captain Shubman Gill also failed to deliver in his first game as ODI captain and went back to the pavilion scoring 10 runs.

Currently, Indian vice captain Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel are on the field, but the rain has interrupted the game.

Before the start of the first ODI, Virat Kohli in a conversation stated that he was feeling as fit as ever after the four-month break since winning his first IPL trophy with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in June. He also dismissed all concerns over the absence before taking up the field at the venue where he smashed his last test century.

He said,

“Well, to be honest, with the amount of cricket I’ve played over the last 15-20 years, I’ve actually not rested at all, if that makes sense. I’ve probably played the most number of games in the last 15 years in international cricket, combining the IPL as well. So far for me, it was a very refreshing time off.”

Further, he said,

“I’m feeling as fit, if not fitter, than I’ve ever been before, and yeah, you can just feel the freshness when you know you can play the game, and mentally you know what to do out there; it’s just the physical preparation that really needs to be taken care of.”

Kohli also stated that his body is fit, he feels fresh coming to Australia, and practicing in nets feels good.

He said,

“At this stage I realized that if my body is fit, if my reflexes are there, then the game awareness is already there; my body has to match up with it, and that’s something that I try to keep up with. I live my life like that, and yeah, no issues at all. I’m feeling fresh here coming into Australia and moving really well in the nets and in the fiddling sessions as well, so all good so far.”
