Virat Kohli Ignored Gambhir : Before the second ODI between India and South Africa in Raipur, a moment caught the attention of everyone when Virat Kohli, after an intense practice session, walked past head coach Gautam Gambhir without even saying a single word.

This incident happened at the end of a practice session at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium, where both Indian senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were doing an intense practice session as speculations continue on their future in the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Kohli looked in great form as he took on throwdown specialists Nuwan Seneviratne and Raghu, who threw serious pace at him. He mostly played at the middle of deliveries, sometimes beaten by raw pace but largely dominated the session with crisp stroke-making.

Rohit, batting in the other net, also went about his drills with intensity, rarely giving the impression that either of the senior batters is slowing down despite their uncertainty about playing in the 2027 ODI World Cup.

The Indian head coach, Gautam Gambhir, was watching the practice session from close, standing between the centre of the nets to observe both senior batters. But once Kohli finished his practice session, he took both bats on his shoulders and walked past the coach without saying a single word. This moment did not go unnoticed, especially at the time when it happened, with the chatter around their professional dynamic in recent days.

On the other hand, when Rohit Sharma completed his practice, he paused briefly and spoke to Gambhir before going back to the dressing room, offering a contrast to the differences between the senior players and especially Kohli’s silent walk.

Talking about other Indian players’ batting sessions ahead of the second ODI, Yashasvi Jaiswal was seen hitting boundaries one after another, while Rishabh Pant also showed his heroics. With the surface expected to favour high-scoring strokes on the black-soil pitch, Indian batters approached the nets with an aggressive approach.

Both senior batters, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, got a good start in the first ODI. Rohit smashed 57 runs off 51 balls while opening the batting, whereas Kohli went on to smash his 52nd ODI century in Ranchi. He scored 135 runs off 120 balls, smashing seven sixes. It was mainly due to senior batters Rohit and Kohli’s brilliance at the top that India managed to put a score of 349 runs on the board. The Proteas failed to chase the target by 17 runs.

Currently, India leads the three-match ODI series by 1–0 and will look to seal the series on November 3, Wednesday, in Raipur.
