Virat-Ishan Bond: Ishan Kishan’s story is among the ones that will be remembered for ages by every cricket fan. He holds the record for the fastest double century in ODI cricket but was removed from India’s BCCI Central Contract List in 2024. But the cricketer didn’t lose hope; instead, he went back to domestic cricket, did a lot of hard work, and is now back on the Indian cricket team.
Ishan Kishan Comeback

In the recently concluded T20I series against New Zealand, he impressed everyone with his incredible knocks, registering his maiden T20I century in the fifth T20I. He smashed 76, 28, and 103 runs in his first three matches. So now if he opens up with Abhishek Sharma in the World Cup, there won’t be any surprise.

After being in and out of the team for years, Ishan now finds himself in a good place. Back in 2021, he was in terrible form before the slump; just before that year, he scored 516 runs, including a 99-run knock against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but failed to repeat the same in the next season. He scored 241 runs in 10 matches; after that, Ian Bishop stated on air between the MI and RCB games that Kishan looks like ‘a broken young man.’

In a recent chat, Kishan revealed how Virat Kohli helped him in his low phase.
He said,
“I was very sad during another match. Remember a video had come, where I was on the verge of crying before Virat Bhai consoled me. Bas kisi tarah se aansu roke huye the (I just somehow managed to hold back tears). He (Virat Kohli) must have seen me just lying there. Poor kid, he probably must be thinking too much.”
And the next year, Kohli was standing on the non-striker’s end when Kishan entered the history books by smashing a double century off just 121 balls, breaking Chris Gayle’s record.
