In the opening match of the ACC Men’s Under-19 Asia Cup 2025, he smashed a blistering century, hitting fours and sixes. In the tournament’s opening match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai, the young batsman unleashed a flurry of towering shots that stunned the opposition bowlers. Opening the innings, he reached his century in just 56 balls, then crossed the 150-run mark in 84 balls, and finally returned to the pavilion after playing an explosive innings of 171 runs.

This innings by Vaibhav Suryavanshi is the biggest innings of his youth ODI career so far. His previous highest score was 143 runs against England Under-19 earlier this year. This marked the first time he played an innings of 150+ runs in an ODI.

During his brilliant innings, Vaibhav Suryavanshi put every UAE bowler on remand. His 171-run innings included 9 fours and 14 sixes, setting a new world record. Previously, no batsman had hit more than 10 sixes in a youth ODI match, but Suryavanshi broke this record and created history. He also became only the seventh Indian batsman to score 150+ runs in a youth ODI.
Impressive record against UAE

This isn’t Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s first major performance against the UAE. He has consistently scored runs against this team. Last year, in the U19 Asia Cup, he played an unbeaten inning of 76* against the UAE, leading the team to a big victory. Recently, in the Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025, he also scored 144 runs against the same team.
