Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Hundred: Smashing centuries and boundaries is like a daily routine for India’s young sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The 14-year-old showed his brilliance in Dubai, smashing 171 runs off 95 balls for India against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the U19 Asia Cup. He smashed nine fours and 14 sixes, and as a result, he broke the world record for hitting the most maximums in a single innings in Youth ODIs. He helped India post a score of 433/6, and at the end the total proved to be enough, as the Ayush Mhatre-led team registered a 234-run win.

The match between India and UAE turned out to be one of the most fiery games, and UAE wicketkeeper Saleh Amin kept on sledging Sooryavanshi from behind the stumps. The Indian opener also didn’t take it but responded in style by smashing the bowlers all around the stadium.

Sooryavanshi was all set to hit his double century against UAE but ended up losing his wicket to Uddish Suri.

During the post-match presentation, the youngster was asked about the UAE keeper, and it was then that Sooryavanshi fired back, giving an absolutely amazing reply.

He said,

“Mai Bihar se belong karta hu. Piche se koi kuch bhi bole, utna farak nahi padta (I belong to Bihar. No matter what the other person is saying from behind, I really don’t care. The keeper was talking to me; it’s their job to keep saying things, but I was focused on my own game, and I was looking to do what I wanted to do.”

The left-handed batter also stated that his focus was more on playing as long as possible to keep the team in a good position. The innings was slightly different from the last ones for the Indian star as he played many different shots, such as reverse sweeps and scoops.

Further, Sooryavanshi said,

“I was trying to play as long as possible. At the start, I took some time as I was reading the wicket. After 10-12 balls, I started to back my game.”

“I played one reverse sweep and one scoop shot. I was practicing before the game; hence, I brought it out in the game.”
