Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Award: India’s rising star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was rewarded with the ‘Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar’ award by the President Droupadi Murmu on December 26, Friday. Sooryavanshi received this award for his incredible batting performances in the Indian team in age-group cricket and for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), in which he broke plenty of records.

The 14-year-old young sensation has become the headline of the entire nation with his explosive batting, with many comparing this rising star to legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, who also started his career as a teenager.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Sooryavanshi made history by becoming the youngest player to get an IPL contract after being brought by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for Rs 1.1 crore and achieved many milestones.

Before his maiden IPL appearance, he smashed a century off 58 balls for India in a four-day game against Australia U19 and had played in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup 2024, scoring 176 runs at an average of 44, with two fifties.

Sooryavanshi made his IPL debut against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the absence of skipper Sanju Samson, smashing a six on the first ball of Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur. In just seven innings in his debut, he smashed 252 runs at an average of 36.00 and a strike rate of above 206, with a century and a fifty to his name.

In 15 Youth ODIs for India, he has scored 767 runs at an average of 51.13 and a strike rate of 158.79, with two centuries and three fifties. In six tests at the youth level, he smashed 331 runs in six matches at an average of 33.10 with a strike rate of above 136, two centuries, and a fifty.
