Tilak Varma Out Of WC 2026: The Indian star batter Tilak Varma has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand commencing on January 21. He went through a testicular surgery in Rajkot on Wednesday. His availability for the remaining two games will be based on his progress during the return to training and skill phases, as reported by BCCI in a statement.

On Tuesday, Tilak played a Vijay Hazare Trophy game against Bengal; it is very well understood by everyone that the injury did not take place during the match. It was learned that he experienced pain afterwards and was immediately rushed for the scans.

Further, the BCCI stated Tilak was discharged from the hospital on Thursday morning and is currently stable and recovering well.

The injury of Tilak Varma came at a time when the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is just a few weeks away, and before that, such news hitting the team and player is not a good sign. India’s campaign for the T20 World Cup will commence from February 7. The other games of India will be against Namibia on February 12, Pakistan on February 15, and the Netherlands on February 18.

Tilak led Hyderabad in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2026, scoring 109 runs against Chandigarh on January 3 and making 34 runs against Bengal on Tuesday.
