Tilak Varma shared this shocking truth about his life on Gaurav Kapoor’s popular show “Breakfast with Champions.” He revealed that in the year 2022, while playing a series in Bangladesh with the India A team, he suffered from a dangerous disease called rhabdomyolysis. This disease causes muscle breakdown, and the toxins from the virus mix into the bloodstream, creating the risk of kidney failure.
Tilak shared his experience, saying,
“I was close to a century old when I suddenly felt a strain in my eyes and stiffness in my body. My fingers stopped working. I felt as if my body had turned to stone. I had to leave the field, and the doctors had to cut the gloves off my hands.”

The situation was so serious that the team management immediately informed the BCCI about Tilak’s condition.
Tilak said,
“When Akash Ambani learned of my condition, he immediately contacted BCCI Secretary Jay Shah. Together, they ensured that I was immediately admitted to the hospital.”
Doctors later told him that if treatment had been delayed any further, he could have lost his life. An emotional Tilak Varma added,
“I am able to play cricket today only because of the timely help of Akash Ambani and Jay Shah. They saved my life.”
