Tilak Varma Comeback: Indian star batter Tilak Varma made an incredible comeback to the cricket pitch after recovering from injury, as he played an iconic knock for India A against the USA in a T20 World Cup 2026 game on February 2. Varma had been under rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru after a successful injury, which had sidelined him for weeks in cricket.

The left-handed batter made his return to competitive cricket in the warm-up match at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, where he smashed 38 runs off 24 balls. His innings included three fours and two sixes, and he looked in great form ahead of the World Cup.

Varma came in to bat after the end of the fourth over and left a few balls to settle in. He smashed his first boundary on the seventh ball and then smashed Harmeet Singh for two fours and a six in the ninth over. After that, he smashed Nosthush Kenjige for a six to get to 38 runs but was dismissed for 38, caught by Monank Patel while going for another big hit.

While playing, Varma showed no signs of any discomfort in the game, which sparked hopes of his comeback in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2026. India will start their campaign of the World Cup against the USA on February 7 in Mumbai.

Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, India is scheduled to play another warm-up game against South Africa on February 4 at the same venue. The match will give the team one more practice session before the competition.

If Tilak Varma is all fit, then he will definitely be in the playing XI, and then the team management will be facing a selection dilemma, as they have to choose between Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan over Varma’s return.
