Test Cricket Miss Kohli: Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wicket-keeper batter Shreevats Goswami feels that Virat Kohli has retired from the wrong format. He stated that Virat Kohli should have retired from ODI instead of continuing to play Test Cricket.

The former cricketer also stated that the current Indian test team miss the energy and belief they used to have and enjoy during Virat Kohli’s test captaincy. These comments came after India’s downfall and disappointing show in the ongoing test series against South Africa in Guwahati.

Last year New Zealand whitewashed India at their home, and if now in the second test under Rishabh Pant’s captaincy India loses the second test, this will be another home series loss against South Africa.

Shreevats Goswami stated,

“Ideally, Virat should have left playing ODIs & continued playing test cricket until he had nothing to give. Test cricket misses him. Not just as a player but just the energy he brought, the love & passion for playing for India, where he made the team believe that they can win in any condition.”

These comments stated the growing frustration among the former players and even Indian fans around test cricket. South Africa hasn’t won a test series in India since 2000, and now there are high chances that the Temba Bavuma-led team can win the second test easily. This win will make history for the South African cricket team.
