Suryakumar Yadav Form: The Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav is going through a rough phase in his cricketing career at the moment, but there are chances that he might make a comeback in the year 2026. In 2025 he failed to score even a single fifty; in 22 innings so far he scored just 244 runs at an average of 12.84 and a top score of 47, which came against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025.

However, the Indian captain didn’t look in any tension due to his form, as he is not playing a single individual sport.

Under Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy, India won over England, the Asia Cup 2025, and the series against Australia and South Africa last year, but his bat remained silent, and his form turned out to be a big concern ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026.

Speaking to the media during the pre-match series conference on the eve of the first T20I against New Zealand in Nagpur on Wednesday, the Indian captain talked about his form.

He said,

“If I were playing table tennis, lawn tennis, or a single sport, then I would definitely think more. But here, this is a team sport. My first responsibility is to know how the team is doing well. Is the team winning? So, I am happy to do that, and if I perform well in that, then it’s fine.”

“If not, then it’s okay. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t. But at the same time, I also have to look after the other 14 players. Then there are support staff as well. So, I have been appointed as leader of everyone. I think there is no personal milestone. It’s a team sport. Everyone has to step up. Everyone has to do well. Everyone has to be happy for each other. I think that is the most important thing in a team atmosphere, and that’s what I like to do.”

The Indian captain also stated that he’s batting well in the nets, and it’s just a matter of time before he gets in his prime form.

He said,

“I have been batting really well. And also, talking about the runs, it will definitely come. But at the same time, I can’t do things differently. I don’t want to change my identity.”

“What has given me success in the past 3-4 years, I would like to bat the same way. And then, if the performance comes, I will take it. If it doesn’t come, then I will go back to the drawing board, practice again, work hard, and come back stronger.”
