Sunil Gavaskar Warning: Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has a big take on the Eden Gardens pitch after India’s shocking loss to South Africa by 30 runs in the first test. There have been a lot of discussions and debates after both teams failed to cross the mark of 200 plus totals in both innings. Chasing the score of 124 runs, the Indian team was all out for 93 runs.
Sunil Gavaskar Warning To Gautam Gambhir

Gavaskar stated that teams should not get involved with curators or try to tell them about how to make pitches. He also stated that when teams try to do so, then sometimes the plan gets back fire on them.
Gavaskar said,
“Well, you know what happens in the IPL? No IPL franchise can influence a curator to prepare any specific kind of pitch. The curator works independently. If he happens to be a die-hard fan of the home franchise, he might prepare a surface that suits their strengths, but that’s entirely his call.”

Further, he said,
“It’s always best to leave the curator alone because he knows his job better than anyone else. When you start asking him to mix things up or prepare a pitch a certain way, it can easily backfire.”

The first test between India and South Africa ended in just three days at the Eden Gardens; it was the first time when both teams were bowled out in all four innings and failed to reach a total of 200 runs. This happened after almost the first time in 66 years.
Now all eyes will be on the Guwahati test to see whether India will win the game and level the series at 1-1 or South Africa will clinch the series in their name by a margin of 2-0.
