Steve Smith Retirement

Australia dominated the series by 4-1 with a five-wicket win in Sydney, but the thing that became a cause of concern was the age of the Australian squad. Smith talked about the ambition the team holds; it is to be seen that the legendary batter Smith will be turning 38 when the series in the year 2027 will start.
Smith, talking about his retirement, stated,
“I’m sure everyone’s excited to go there and try to win the Ashes. It’s something that I certainly haven’t done in my career, and something I’d like to tick off. Whether I get there or not is a different question. The squad we’ve had over the last four or five years has been amazing. So hopefully we can keep growing, getting better.”
“Unbelievable With Both Hands & Gloves”: Steve Smith
Further, Smith praised Alex Carey for his incredible wicketkeeping skills in the Ashes 2025-26.
He said,

“He was unbelievable with both hands and gloves. Just the way he was able to go up to the stumps, in particular to the quicks. Those guys are bowling late 130s, almost hitting 140s at times, and he’s just taken them easy. Against this opposition, we thought that was a real threat, keeping them stuck on the crease and not allowing them to dance at our bowlers.”
“Mitchell Starc – Hero Of The Ashes 2025-26”
While on the other hand, Mitchell Starc and Travis Head were the players who delivered incredible performances in the whole series.

Smith said,
“Mitchell Starc was sensational and then supported by everyone that played. We’ve got a great squad of players that have been good for a long period of time. The last four or five years.
