“Recently, there has been a lot of speculation about my life, and I feel I must speak out now. I am a very private person, and I would like to keep it that way, but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off.”

“I believe there is a higher purpose driving us all, and for me that has always been representing my country at the highest level. I hope to continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible, and that is where my focus will forever be.”

Amid all the heartbreak, the person who stood with her in all things is her teammate Jemimah Rodrigues. When the reports of Smriti’s wedding went viral, Jemimah left her Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) campaign in Australia in mid-season to stay with Smriti in India.

Now, as the wedding has been called off officially by Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah once again stood by her best friend in difficult times. On Instagram, Jemimah shared a story that shows a group of singers performing Olivia Dean’s hit song “Man I Need.” Many fans linked the lyrics of the song with the current situations, which include emotional lines like, “Looks like we’re making up for lost time. Need you to spell it out for me.”
