There were also talks going on that there’s nothing the same between Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill; the bond they used to share is not the same anymore. However, all these rumors came to an end on Sunday during the first ODI when rain disrupted the game again and again.
During the time when rain delayed the game in Perth, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were seen doing chit-chat about the conditions in Perth. They were also seen having popcorn during the chat and exchanged some laughs at the Optus Stadium.
Shubman Gill On His Bond With Rohit Sharma
A day before the first ODI in Perth, the young skipper Shubman Gill admitted that there is no rift between him and Rohit Sharma after the shift of captaincy and dismissed all the rumors of the rift.
He said,
“The narrative that is going on outside is different, but there is nothing different in our relationship now. We are just like how we used to be before; everything is the same. He is very helpful. If there is any observation he makes after his years of experience, he tells me, and if there is anything I want to ask him, I go and ask him and ask his opinion and ask what he would have done in such a situation. I like to get the thoughts of everyone, and then, based on my understanding of the game, take the final decision.”
After some time the focus was shifted to head coach Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, and Shubman Gill. It was seen that Gill was showing something to Rohit Sharma on his iPad.
AUS vs IND: A Horrific Start To The ODI
After losing the toss, the Indian team was asked to bat, where they didn’t get a good start from the opening players. Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli all lost their wickets cheaply.
The rain also played a key role in the Indian batting collapse; only KL Rahul and Axar Patel were the players who contributed a bit in scoring runs for the team.
The Shubman Gill-led team gave up a target of 136 runs with the loss of 9 wickets in 26 overs. The overs were reduced due to rain. To win this match now, the Australian team has to score 137 runs in the first ODI.
