Shubman Gill Backed: In the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026, Shubman Gill was dropped as Sanju Samson replaced him due to his poor form in the format. However, the former Indian cricketer feels that the Punjab cricketer was dropped from the squad due to a combination of team balance and the heavy competition from the side.
Shubman Gill Backed

India’s legendary opener stated that Gill will continue to have a beautiful technique as a batter, and this will only bring him back to the team. The cricketer also stated that he will continue to lead the Indian team in tests as well as in ODIs, which shows that the selection committee has a lot of trust in his potential and abilities.
“End Of The Road For Him”: Harbhajan Singh

“It is not a signal for Gill. He was not taking his place for granted, but the competition is so tough that there are many players who can take that slot and perform well for the team. This is not the end of the road for him. He is a great player with beautiful technique. I believe he will make a beautiful comeback, and we should not forget that he is still the test captain.”
Further, speaking on Gill’s omission from the T20 squad, Harbhajan added that he understands why selectors didn’t go for him in the team. The former cricketer continues to believe that the right call will eventually be made one day, keeping the combinations of the team in mind.
He said,

“I was listening to Ajit Agarkar and Captain Suryakumar Yadav. They were saying that Gill was excluded because of the combination. They must have taken the call depending on the conditions and the combination.”
