Shreyas Iyer Injury: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a recent medical update on Shreyas Iyer’s injury in the third and final ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The right-handed batter went through a blunt injury to his abdomen while fielding, which resulted in internal bleeding, and was immediately rushed to the hospital.
In the recent update, it has been stated that Shreyas is recovering well and has been discharged from the hospital in Sydney. The Indian batter will remain in Sydney for his further checkups and consultations and will return to India once he is completely fit.\
BCCI Update On Shreyas Iyer Injury

The BCCI, in an official release, stated,
“He is now stable and recovering well. The BCCI Medical Team, along with specialists in Sydney and India, are pleased with his recovery, and he has been discharged from the hospital today.”
“The BCCI extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kouroush Haghigi and his team in Sydney, along with Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala in India, for ensuring Shreyas received the best treatment for his injury. Shreyas will continue to stay in Sydney for follow-up consultations and will return to India once he is deemed fit to fly.”

Shreyas Iyer got the injury after he took a diving catch off the spell of Harshit Rana to send back Australia’s wicket-keeper batter Alex Carey. However, Iyer was successful in taking the catch, but after that was seen in visible pain, with physio coming immediately to treat him.
After the check-up on the ground, he walked off the field with the physio. Shreyas’s injury became a cause of concern after the next day when he was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
