Shreyas Iyer in T20I Squad: Ahead of the T20I series against New Zealand, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made significant changes to the Indian team. The team management, filled with, now had to look for replacements, with the biggest news being the return of Shreyas Iyer. He has been rewarded for his excellent domestic performances and returns to the T20 team after nearly two years.

All-rounder Washington Sundar suffered a side strain while bowling during the first ODI. After scans confirmed the injury, the medical team advised him to rest, resulting in his exclusion from the first ODI and now the T20 series. Tilak Varma will also miss the first three T20 matches due to injury.

In the absence of these two players, the BCCI took immediate action. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi has been included in the T20I squad in place of Washington Sundar. Shreyas Iyer has been selected for the first three T20 matches in place of Tilak Varma. Iyer last played a T20 for India in December 2023, making his return a significant opportunity.
