Shahid Afridi On Gambhir : After the Indian Test team got whitewashed in less than 12 months, it was clear that not everyone is a fan of Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir. But the success in white ball cricket makes him the more successful coach as compared to red ball cricket.
It is felt that day by day Gambhir’s criticism is increasing, for one reason or another, and now his dependency on all-rounders is a cause of concern. Keeping aside all these things, after getting whitewashed at home, Gambhir stated that he is the only guy under whom India won the Champions Trophy 2025, the Asia Cup 2025, and a 2-2 draw in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.

“Virat & Rohit Are Backbones Of The Indian Team”: Shahid Afridi

Afridi also backed the Indian star duo Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma amid ongoing speculations of them playing in the ODI World Cup 2027, stating that the star duo has the quality and energy to play another World Cup.
He said,
“It’s a fact that Virat and Rohit are the backbones of the Indian batting lineup, and the way they have played in the recent ODI series, it can confidently be said that they can play until the 2027 World Cup.”
The Indian star duo has shown there capabilities of delivering the performance at the highest level after seeing their current form against Australia and South Africa.

Afridi said,
“You need to preserve both these players. When India faces weaker teams, they can try some new players and rest Virat and Rohit.”
Despite their current form, Gautam Gambhir believes that the duo’s participation will depend on their form for the ODI World Cup 2027.
