Sanju Samson Flop: Sanju Samson’s flop show is nowhere near coming to an end soon. In the ongoing five-match T20I series against New Zealand, the wicketkeeper-batter once again failed to impress. In the 4th T20I, Samson looked in great form but still was dismissed for just 24 runs off 15 balls.

On the other side, Ishan Kishan showed his incredible performances while batting at No. 3; with that, the pressure is mounting on Samson to justify his place in the XI.

During the fourth T20I played at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, Samson came at a very tense moment with India losing the early wickets of Abhishek Sharma and captain Suryakumar Yadav chasing the score of 216 runs. However, he was clean bowled by Mitchell Santner in the end by the New Zealand captain.

Amidst all these things, legendary Indian player Sunil Gavaskar pointed out that Samson didn’t use his feet against Santner, leaving the stumps to get clean bowled. The former Indian captain stated,

“My first impression is that there was no footwork at all. Not very sure whether there was any turn. First impression was he was just standing there making room and playing through the offside.”

After watching the replay of Samson’s batting, Gavaskar criticized him for his technical lapse, pointing out that he lacked footwork.

He said,

“Like I said, hardly any movement of the feet. Going outside leg-stump, once again exposing all three stumps, and when you miss, the bowler’s going to hit, and that’s what happened to Sanju Samson the second time around.”

The fifth and final T20I of the series will be played on January 31, Saturday, at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Currently, the Men in Blue are leading the series by 3-1 in the series, and if Samson once again fails to deliver, then there are chances that he might get dropped from the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 Playing XI.
