Sanjay Bangar on India XI: Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Bangar feels that Washington Sundar is unlikely to get a place in the playing XI for their T20 World Cup 2026 clash against Namibia. However, he stated that Jasprit Bumrah will likely make a comeback in the playing XI, with Mohammed Siraj making place for him.

India will be clashing against Namibia in their second T20I World Cup 2026 Group A match in Arun Jaitely Stadium, Delhi, on February 12. In the opener game, the Men in Blue beat the United States of America (USA) by 29 runs on Saturday in the absence of Washington Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah.

During an interaction, when Bangar was asked about the potential changes in India’s playing XI, he stated Washington Sundar’s availability for the game.

Sanjay Bangar said,

“It’s great news that Washington Sundar is going to be joining the team because the Indian team was patient with him. They have high confidence in his abilities, and the very fact that they persisted with him despite him not being available for the start of the tournament means that they want to play with a similar combination.”

Further, he said,

“If, say for instance, a spin-bowling all-rounder is not available, then Washington Sundar can certainly come in. But I don’t see him playing in Delhi. I certainly see Jasprit Bumrah making it to the playing XI, and the player to miss out would be the in-form Mohammed Siraj.”

Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of India’s T20 World Cup 2026 opener game against the USA due to illness. Mohammed Siraj, who joined the Indian squad as Harshit Rana’s replacement, took 3 wickets, giving away 29 runs in four overs that game.
