Salman Ali Agha: The Asia Cup 2025 campaign has finally come to an end, after India won the tournament against Pakistan by a margin of 5 wickets in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. But the thing is, this tournament was filled with controversies, which are still not taking a name to end.

After India’s win in the tournament, Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha made a shocking statement about Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav.

“SURYAKUMAR YADAV DID SHAKE HANDS IN PRIVATE”: SALMAN ALI AGHA

After the defeat against India in the finals, Salman Ali Agha stated that the Indian captain avoided a handshake during the game but did greet him in private.

He said,

“He shook hands with me in private at the start of the tournament.”

Further, he said,

“Both at the pre-tournament press conference and when we met in the referee’s meeting. But when they’re out in front of the cameras, they don’t shake our hands. I’m sure he’s following the instructions he’s been given, but if it was up to him, he’d shake hands with me.”

“INDIANS ARE DISRESPECTING CRICKET”: SALMAN ALI AGHA

The Pakistan captain did not stop here; he continues to slam India for what they did on the ground by not shaking hands and destroying the cricket values.

He said,

“What India has done in this tournament is very disappointing. They’re not disrespecting us by not shaking hands—they’re disrespecting cricket. Good teams don’t do what they did today. We went to pose with the trophy on our own because we wanted to fulfill our own obligations. We stood there and took our medals. I don’t want to use harsh words, but they’ve been very disrespectful. This is the first time I’ve ever seen this happen. Whatever happened in this tournament was very bad, and I hope it stops at some stage because it’s bad for cricket.”

Agha also showed his concern about the message that will be reaching the young audiences.

He said,

“I’m not just a Pakistan captain; I’m a cricket fan. If a kid is watching in India or Pakistan, we’re not sending them a good message. People think of us as role models, but if we’re behaving like this, we’re not inspiring them. What happened shouldn’t have happened, but you should ask the people (India) responsible for this rather than me.”

“VERY SOON WE WILL START BEATING THEM”: SALMAN ALI AGHA

Despite losing all three games against India in the Asia Cup 2025, the Pakistan skipper looked confident that in the future they will be beating India for sure.

He said,

“We are not playing good cricket against them, and if you look at it overall, we are still behind them. Every team has an era—maybe this is theirs. We used to beat them in the 90s; now they are beating us, and you will see very soon we will start beating them.”

Since the inaugural Asia Cup in 1984, this was the first time in forty-one years that India and Pakistan have reached the final together. In the last two clashes of the Asia Cup 2025, India has beaten Pakistan by huge margins, and in the finals too, the Men in Blue won the game and tournament.
