RR New Captain in IPL 2026: The IPL 2026 retention deadline is November 15, and a few days before that, a lot is going on in the Rajasthan Royals (RR) camp as the franchise is in search of a new captain, as Sanju Samson is all set to leave the franchise.

Rajasthan Royals is the franchise that is in more headlines as compared to all other franchises in the IPL. The former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara has returned to the franchise as the franchise’s head coach after Rahul Dravid stepped down from that position. Other than that, the franchise has also parted ways with CEO Jake Lush McCrum. Sangakkara has been RR’s director of cricket since 2021.
Sanju Samson To Leave Rajasthan Royals

As per the latest reports, Sanju Samson is all set to join Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the IPL 2026. In exchange for Samson, Rajasthan Royals have asked for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran or Matheesha Pathirana.
So, now the question that arises is after Sanju Samson’s exit, who will be handed over the captaincy of the Rajasthan Royals? Samson has captained RR in a total of 67 matches. Under his captaincy the team won 33 games and lost 33 as well. In his captaincy RR reached the final in the year 2022 and the playoffs in IPL 2024.
RR New Captain In IPL 2026: Dhruv Jurel or Yashasvi Jaiswal?

After Samson’s exit, the names that are coming up for the captaincy contendership are Dhruv Jurel and Yashasvi Jaiswal. But between both of them, Jurel has high chances of taking the leadership roles due to his skills. If we take a look at Jaiswal, then he is a top-order batter, while Jurel is a quality wicketkeeper batter who has the ability to finish games and change the game from behind the stumps.
However, Jurel as captain can bring flexibility to the team, so there are high chances that Rajasthan Royals might go with Dhruv Jurel as captain in coming times.
