Rohit Sharma: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly set to do a meeting with current Indian ODI skipper Rohit Sharma regarding his future in the team as a captain.

According to the latest reports, the selection committee will be meeting on October 4, Saturday, to finalize the squad for the ODI series against Australia. The main discussion will be taking place with Rohit Sharma regarding the captaincy role.

The Indian ODI skipper Rohit Sharma has not been seen in an Indian jersey since the Champions Trophy 2025 and is now all set to make a comeback in the team against Australia. Recently he has cleared his fitness test at the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

The latest report states,

“The defining point of the selection meeting, however, will be captaincy for the ODIs—specifically, whether Rohit will be retained as captain. It is understood that the selectors plan to discuss the matter with him directly. Meanwhile, Rohit cleared his fitness test at the BCCI center of excellence in Bengaluru recently.”

It is also seen that the BCCI will be looking forward as the 2027 ODI World Cup is approaching, and the talks with Rohit will be about clarifying everything about the captaincy role or whether there will be any transition loading.

In the latest viral video, it was seen that Rohit Sharma looked in good shape and has almost lost nearly 10 kilograms.

If we take a look at his ODI career in recent years, then he has played a total of 273 ODIs, scoring 11168 runs at an average of 48.76. Under his leadership, the Men In Blue reached the finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 but unfortunately lost the finals to Australia. After that, under his captaincy, India won the T20 World Cup 2024, and recently they lifted the Champions Trophy 2025.

IND vs AUS: India’s campaign against Australia will start on October 19 (Perth), October 23 (Adelaide), and October 25 (Sydney).
