Riyan Parag Message : Although Team India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2026 has already been announced, speculation about changes to the team before the tournament has intensified. The reason isn’t a player’s poor form, but rather fitness concerns. Washington Sundar’s recovery timeline after being injured in the first ODI against New Zealand has increased the team management’s worries. So, if a change to the squad is necessary, the question is, who will get the opportunity?
Riyan Parag Message To Selectors

Amidst this uncertainty, Riyan Parag has tried to convey his message to the selectors without saying a word. After the news of Sundar’s injury and subsequent withdrawal from the ODI and T20 series, Parag shared his practice videos on social media for two consecutive days, first batting and then bowling. Significantly, his off-break bowling was highlighted, which, like Sundar, could provide the team with an all-round option.

Sundar was included in the 15-member World Cup squad, but due to a side strain, his participation in the initial matches is considered doubtful. If he doesn’t recover in time, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will have to consider a replacement. The board currently doesn’t want to rush into a decision and is monitoring the situation until the last moment.
Riyan Parag Recovering From Injury

There’s another aspect to Parag’s videos. He is currently recovering from a shoulder injury and undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. He recently resumed bowling and throwing. Therefore, his posts could also be fitness updates. According to reports, he might receive his fitness certificate by the time the T20 series begins.
It will be interesting to see if Parag’s silent message can compel the selectors to change their decision if Sundar’s place becomes vacant.
