Rishabh Pant On Whitewash : The Indian stand-in captain Rishabh Pant expressed his disappointment after they lost the series to South Africa by 0-2. The pain reflected in his eyes after the Proteas smashed them by a big margin of 408 runs in Guwahati and won maiden test series in the country.
Pant was given the test captaincy after Shubman Gill was injured in the first test and was ruled out from the series. He stated many things without naming any individual but highlighting the issues that are disturbing the Indian team.
Rishabh Pant On Whitewash

Rishabh Pant, after the match, said,
“It’s a little disappointing. As a team, we need to get better. Credit to the opposition for playing better than us. They dominated the series, but at the same time you can’t take cricket for granted. We’re playing at home, and sometimes we were up in the game. Still, we didn’t capitalize on it, so we have to learn and get better. Whether you’re playing at home or away, cricket demands that determination and that extra effort. As a batting unit, you need to capitalise on certain moments. As a team, we didn’t do that. The positives from this series will be to focus on our own plan.”
IND vs SA: Second Whitewash At Home Within 12 Months

This is the worst defeat of the Indian Test team on home soil, surpassing the record of 342 runs by Australia in the year 2004. The thing did not end here; this is the second whitewash of the Indian cricket at their home within the span of 12 months, last year by New Zealand and now by South Africa.

With this series loss, this is the fifth defeat of the Indian team from the last year, which makes it more tense. With this win, South Africa won their maiden test series in India after a wait of 25 years. In the year 2000, South Africa also whitwashed India at their home by 2-0.
