Batting first, India scored 253 runs in 20 overs, the highest total in any T20 World Cup knockout match. In response, England could only manage 246 runs, and India won this high-scoring match.
A total of 499 runs were scored in this match, which is the second-highest match total in men’s T20 Internationals. The previous highest was 517 runs in the South Africa vs. West Indies T20I 2023 Centurion match. Interestingly, India has been involved in the highest-scoring matches in T20 Internationals several times.
Record Breaking Sixes, Sanju Samson’s brilliant innings & India big score

The biggest highlight of India’s innings was Sanju Samson’s explosive batting. He scored 89 runs in just 48 balls, including 8 fours and 7 sixes. Samson’s innings gave India a strong start, and the team continued its march towards a big score.
In the middle order, Shivam Dubey scored 43 runs in 25 balls, while Ishan Kishan hit 39 runs in just 18 balls. Both kept the pressure on the England bowlers by scoring quickly.
In the final overs, Tilak Verma scored 21 runs in seven balls, and Hardik Pandya scored 27 runs in 12 balls to take India past 250. Will Jacks and Adil Rashid took two wickets each for England, while Jofra Archer took the crucial wicket of Tilak Verma.
Despite Jacob Bethell Century, England Falls Short Of The Target

Chasing a massive target of 253, England batted brilliantly. Young batsman Jacob Bethell scored the first century of his T20 International career and kept the team in the match. His aggressive innings kept the match exciting until the end.
However, the Indian bowlers maintained the pressure and prevented England from scoring quickly in the final overs. Ultimately, England could only manage 246 runs, and India won the match by 7 runs.
This match also set several records. A total of 34 sixes were hit in the match, the most in any match in T20 World Cup history. The previous record of 31 sixes was set during the Zimbabwe vs. West Indies T20 World Cup 2026 match.
A total of 73 boundaries were hit in this match, including 39 fours and 34 sixes.
