Ravindra Jadeja Trade: Just a few days are left for the IPL 2026 retentions, and ahead of that, the trade buzz between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) has reached a higher stage. One after another, reports are going viral on the social media of the Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson trade.

After months of reports, now it is very clear that Sanju Samson is no more interested in playing for the Rajasthan Royals. This Sunday it was reported that CSK is finalizing a trade for Sanju Samson that would bring him to Chepauk and is a potential replacement for MS Dhoni in coming years. But the trade is not as simple as it looks; in response to giving Sanju Samson to CSK, RR wants Ravindra Jadeja and one between Sam Curran and Matheesha Pathirana.
This all trade is not confirmed yet, but almost the deal is done. Samson’s arrival in the team is a big decision in response to the fact that someone could play the role of wicketkeeper batter, which MS Dhoni used to play.
“MS Dhoni To Sacrifice Ravindra Jadeja For CSK Future”: Mohammed Kaif
To all these trade rumors, former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif believes that Dhoni won’t hesitate in taking that decision of giving Jadeja to RR, keeping the future of the team in mind. Kaif also stated that CSK won’t feel losing Jadeja, as they already have a prime spinner, Noor Ahmad, with them.
Talking about this on his YouTube channel, Mohammed Kaif said,
“For Dhoni, making the team win is the biggest goal. If he is coming to play again, he will be thinking CSK finished 10th in the standings last year. He is a man of pride; hence, his biggest goal will be to make the team win another trophy. A team cannot win the trophy based on one player.”
Further, he said,
“If Jadeja has to be sacrificed for the team’s good, Dhoni will do it. People say how Dhoni operates based on friendships and does it, giving them a couple of extra chances. But it doesn’t mean his focus goes away from winning. The goal is to make CSK a champion. That’s why he will let go of Jadeja if it has to be done. If Dhoni feels he can get a better option for the team, he will take the decision.”
“Sanju Samson Must Have Called MS Dhoni”: Mohammed Kaif
The former cricketer Mohammed Kaif also feels that the upcoming IPL 2026 might be MS Dhoni’s last IPL if CSK succeeds in bringing Sanju Samson to the team.
He said,
“If Samson is likely to join CSK, there would be a lot of calls. Sanju must have called on the phone. Behind the scenes, there are a lot of phone calls. Sanju might have spoken to CSK, maybe Dhoni. Bhai, kya lagta hai? See, Dhoni runs the team, and if CSK wants Sanju this time, then he is also the future captain. It also means that this is Dhoni’s last year. Why would they want Sanju? Jadeja has been playing for them for a long time (since 2012).”
Further, he added,
“The style of batting Sanju Samson has, he is more likely to succeed with the bat in Chennai than Rishabh Pant or KL Rahul. He might come at No. 3 or 4, and he can hit sixes in the middle overs.”
