Ravindra Jadeja Trade On Halt: The Ravindra Jadeja-Sanju Samson trade is getting a new headline day by day. Now, a new and shocking update has come from the negotiations deal between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) ahead of IPL 2026. The deal has nothing to do with both stars, but it is the third name that is coming in the deal. The trade is on hold because of the English all-rounder Sam Curran and the Rajasthan Royals’ overseas quota and purse on which everything depends.

As per the latest reports, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals initiated the Expression of Interest (EOI) for the swap almost 48 hours ago, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to receive a formal request for approval.

As of now, the trade remains ‘in process,’ but not completed, due to a complication.

Why Is The Ravindra Jadeja-Sanju Samson Deal Not Done Yet?

There are still chances that Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran can come into RR, but it will require some bold moves by the Royals. They need to release one of their overseas players to free both the slot and funds for Curran.

The deal is still not complete because it also includes Sam Curran, who is moving to RR from Chennai Super Kings. Curran is an overseas player, and RR’s overseas quota is already full. They have eight overseas players in the franchise, which includes Jofra Archer, Shimron Hetmyer, Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Kwena Maphaka, Nandre Burger, and Lhuan-dre Pretorius, and 14 Indian cricketers too. Until and unless RR doesn’t release any one of them, Curran cannot be traded.

Home Coming For Ravindra Jadeja In Rajasthan Royals

It will be a home coming for Jadeja in Rajasthan Royals, as it was his first IPL team. In 2008 he made his debut for RR when he was 19 years old and was part of the title-winning squad. He was with RR in the first two seasons but was suspended in 2010 by the IPL for trying to negotiate a contract directly with the Mumbai Indians, which was against the rules. After he served the ban, he played for Kochi Tuskers in the year 2011.

Since then, from the year 2012, Jadeja has been the core part of the franchise, apart from two years when the franchise was banned. He played a crucial role for CSK in helping them win three of their five IPL titles; especially the 2023 IPL was the best.
