The ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025 is so much in the headlines just because of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s return to the tournament. Ahead of the ODI series against New Zealand, the duo looks in great form.

As both the batters scored centuries. Fans were all excited to watch their favorites on the field, but lack of live telecasts sparked outrage against the BCCI.

“Only Elon Musk Can Telecast These Matches On X”: R Ashwin

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ashwin shared his view on not telecasting the live games of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

He said,

“Fans are asking, what the hell? Only Elon Musk can telecast these matches on X. Everyone wants to follow Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, no doubt. They had a great series and will be facing New Zealand next. They both have turned up, and how they have turned up! One scores 150 and the other 130, both with incredible strike rates. When players like these come and play, the matches become more exciting.”

After BCCI made it compulsory for Indian players to play domestic cricket when they are off on international duty, then Rohit and Kohli also made their comeback in the domestic setup.

Further, R. Ashwin backed the authority, stating that the broadcasting plans are made well in advance, and making last-minute changes is nearly impossible.

He said,

“Everyone wants to see Rohit and Virat in action, sure. But we have to see how early they got the information that Rohit and Virat will play. When the international calendar is given, the domestic calendar is given at the same time. Once it is set, the BCCI and broadcasters decide which venues are easy to cover and which matches can be televised.”

“So the conversation was Rohit and Virat will play, but when? Making that last-minute switch is difficult.”
