Mohammed Siraj Captain: Mohammed Siraj has been appointed as the red ball captain of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 for the remainder of the season. Siraj will be replacing Tilak Varma, who has been ruled out due to a testicular injury and has been ruled out of India’s limited overs series against New Zealand. This big achievement comes for Siraj during the ongoing India-New Zealand ODI series.
Mohammed Siraj Captain: Leads For The First Time

It will be for the first time that Mohammed Siraj will be seen leading any team in his career. Despite having no experience in the captaincy in any format, his experience will be valuable for the team. His appointment as captain will be a trial run, as the management might appoint him as captain in the next Ranji Trophy season.

Siraj won’t be joining the team anytime soon, as he has to feature in the third ODI against New Zealand. The next fixture of Hyderabad will be played against Mumbai on January 22. By then Siraj will be over with his national team for the ODIs, which are set to conclude on January 18, which will allow him to be prepared for the captaincy.
