Mohammed Shami Fitness: The Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami might not be part of the international cricket team at the current time anymore, but his performance in domestic cricket remains as impressive as ever. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, Shami once again proved that his class is permanent. His fast and accurate bowling put the Services team under pressure from the start and turned the match in Bengal’s favour.

In the very first over of the match, Shami did what is expected of him, took a wicket. He immediately sent both of Services’ opening batsmen back to the pavilion, giving the opposing team a shock. Later, he took two more wickets to complete his brilliant spell with 4 wickets. Services’ team couldn’t play freely against Shami’s controlled line and length and were all out for 165 runs.

Bengal’s batting was also quite strong. Captain Abhimanyu Easwaran gave the team a good start with a blistering 58 runs. Abhishek Porel also scored 56 runs off just 29 balls. The quick 93-run partnership between the two made the match one-sided. Bengal achieved the target in just 15 overs and registered their fourth win in the tournament. With this win, Bengal also secured the top position in the points table.

Mohammed Shami’s domestic form comes at a time when questions are being raised about the performance of Indian bowlers. Some bowlers turned out to be expensive on the South Africa tour, after which fans and former cricketers have intensified their demands for Shami’s return. Many cricket experts believe that an experienced and reliable bowler like Shami should be in the team, especially when key bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah are not available for every match.

Former cricketer Harbhajan Singh also recently expressed his opinion, saying that keeping a senior bowler like Mohammed Shami out of the team is incomprehensible. He says that the right balance of experience and youth is crucial for bowlers, and Shami strengthens that balance.

Shami’s bowling still shows the same sharpness as before. His fitness, his speed, and his wicket-taking ability all look fantastic. It will be interesting to see whether the Indian selectors include him in the squad for major tournaments in the coming months. One thing is certain: his explosive performance at the domestic level has once again proven that he is still one of India’s most reliable fast bowlers.
