It is also being stated that the star duo’s performance will play a key role in their selection in the ODI World Cup 2027.
Mohammad Kaif On IND vs AUS: Urges Selectors To Not Judge Virat, Rohit Early

Kaif highlighted that Rohit was different as compared to other players, and there was a reason for the selectors to not trust him for the future.
In a recent video shared on his YouTube channel, Kaif stated that Rohit was a player who didn’t perform consistently but rather performed in the finals. On the other hand, he also stated that Virat used to bring consistency, while Rohit used to score big runs in the final, and therefore it will be very difficult for the selectors to judge them based on the recent IND vs AUS series.
Kaif said,
“Rohit is not captaining, and the way he has been playing over the years, scoring 20 to 30, but when a big match comes, he scores 80, a match-winning knock; that’s how his career has gone. He never scores consistently. The difference between him and Kohli in their numbers is that Kohli brings consistency, while Rohit brings match-winning knocks. It will be difficult for the selectors.”
Mohammed Kaif On Virat Kohli Test Retirement

Further, Kaif, talking about Kohli’s retirement from Test, stated that there were many reasons behind that move of his.
He said,
“Virat Kohli was struggling. There were two reasons behind his retirement. First, he wasn’t able to score runs, as his weakness outside the off-stump was getting exposed, and every bowler was targeting him there. Second, he wanted to keep playing; he even wanted to go on the England tour, but certain things happened within the team that made him feel like many people didn’t want him there anymore.”
The Men In Blue will start their campaign against Australia in a three-match ODI series starting from October 19. India’s campaign against Australia will start on October 19 (Perth), October 23 (Adelaide), and October 25 (Sydney).
