Mohammad Kaif on Ajit Agarkar: After the announcement of the Indian ODI squad against Australia, the reaction of fans continues to come; some praised that step, whereas some created debate on social media.
About the selection of the Indian team, former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif failed to understand the logic of selecting Dhurv Jurel in the squad despite Sanju Samson’s fantastic performance. Kaif, on not selecting Samson in the team, criticized the Indian selectors. He, without any hesitation, openly called this move of Ajit Agarkar and the selectors a ‘wrong’ move.
“Leaving Out Sanju Samson Was A Wrong Decision” : Mohammad Kaif On Ajit Agarkar

In a recent shared video, Kaif said,
“I feel that Dhruv Jurel played really well when he scored that century against the West Indies. He looked very compact and organized, and he is definitely the future of Indian cricket. He has that ability to score in every match. But leaving out Sanju Samson was a wrong decision because Sanju usually plays in the lower order, around number five or six, and for that position, he is a much better option than Jurel.”
Sanju Samson A Good Fit For ODI In IND vs AUS

Further, he stated that Samson’s game against spinners makes him a key player in the team in the middle order when it comes to ODIs. So, he feels that rather than keeping Jurel at the No. 5 or No. 6 spot, Samson would be a good fit.
He said,
“At that spot, you need someone who can hit sixes, especially against spinners. We saw Sanju Samson’s strength in the Asia Cup. If he had gone to Australia, he would have hit Adam Zampa for maximums. He’s in the top 10 for most sixes in the IPL, and he fits perfectly at number five or six in Australian conditions.”
“Right now, we tend to focus only on current form, like how well Jurel played recently, and in doing so, we forget players like Sanju who have been performing consistently and are deserving.”
