Manoj Tiwary Reaction: One thing ends, and another thing starts to target Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir. The head coach has been a center of attraction for the last few days, since the time India lost the test series to South Africa by 2-0 at home. He’s become a punching bag among fans, former cricketers, and experts after the second whitewash in the last 12 months.

After Gambhir’s appointment as Indian head coach, the team lost its first ever bilateral series in Sri Lanka after 27 years, went through their first test series defeat on home soil after 12 years, lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after eight years, and now suffered a second whitewash in almost less than a year.

In the last year, India lost its three legends of Test cricket, with Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli on the list, all in a gap of just six months. Ashwin announced his retirement in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, while Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement just before the start of the England series.

Months after their retirement, some of the fans still blame Gautam Gambhir for their retirements, but none of them criticized Gambhir directly. But this time Manoj Tiwary has come out and spoken on the matter, blaming the coach for Ashwin’s retirement.

Manoj Tiwary said,

“You (Gautam Gambhir) made Ashwin insecure just by bringing Washington Sundar from outside the squad. It’s a clear indication that you no longer trust Ashwin. In my opinion, it made him uncomfortable, and that’s why he retired in Australia.”

Further, Tiwary talked about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, stating that before the start of the England tour, both announced their retirement. Rohit started the year 2024 on a high note, scoring two centuries in a test series against England at home, but with time he lost his form. In the BGT series he scored just 31 runs in three tests.

After this, Virat Kohli’s retirement shocked everyone. He smashed a century against Australia in Perth and scored some runs in the remaining games too. Tiwary, talking about their retirement, said,

“Obviously, both Rohit and Virat wanted to play Test cricket, but unfortunately, the scenario was such that they themselves said goodbye to that. Things like these never make a player feel settled in the squad.”
